Laptops Vs Tablets

+
Everyday we see new models of laptops and tablets with their mouth-watering killer specs and you'd be wondering which gadget to go for. Laptops and Tablets are 2 distinct devices with similar functionality. Both devices have their merits & demerits and this post clearly attacks the Tablets (i.e in favour of Laptops).

Tablets are mobile computers larger than mobile phones, integrated into a flat touch screen and primarily operated by touching the screen rather than using physical keyboards.

Only Get a Tablet
  1. If you want to own the latest electronic device.
  2. If you want to show off.
  3. If you're not into computers and don't want to be.
  4. If tablets substitutes laptops for your personal or professional needs.
  5. If you've owned a laptop and feel like switching from "Developer mode" to "Consumer mode" ;)
Don't get a Tablet

Higher Price - Tablets are costly despite the fact that they can't achieve much.

Slower input speed - typing on virtual keyboards might look fresh but it's slower than typing on a conventional keyboard. Presently tablets now support external keyboards in an effort to narrow the gap.

Less user-friendly ergonomics - a tablet doesn't provide room for a wrist rest, and the user's arm must move constantly while writing.

More Knowledge of the programs is needed - because for example, information or icons is not obtained by pointing at them.

Higher screen risk - Tablets are handled more than conventional laptops, yet many are built on similar frames; in addition, since their screens also serve as input devices, they run a higher risk of screen damage from impacts and misuse.

No High Definition - High-definition video will soon be the norm in the electronics industry. The 10-inch tablets have the functionality to properly display these videos in high definition but lesser screen inch are susceptible to falter.

Higher hinge risk - A convertible tablet's screen hinge is often more complex and delicate

Limited peripherals - Tablets don't support common computer peripherals e.g external hard drives, flash drive, CD ROM and DVD ROM drives etc.

Weaker video capabilities -  Most tablet computers are equipped with embedded graphics processors instead of discrete graphics cards.

+ Business-oriented tablet personal computers have been slower sellers from 2001 to date.

In summary, nothing is worse than purchasing a product that you think is on the cutting edge of technology, only to realize, soon after, that it is already time to upgrade. Laptops clearly overcomes the above disadvantages of Tablets and many more. In essence, don't be deceived by world trends and their sleek looks, always go for a gadget that truly meets your personal or professional computing needs.
